Here is the info you need to know.
Can you use another CD to install with your code:
Yes, as long as it is the same version of Windows.
You can look on your sticker and it will say the version it is for. It will either be XP Home or Professional. Since it was a Dell sticker, it is also only for the OEM version of Windows.
If you are looking for a CD image or disc, as long as it is the same version as your code, it will work. Service pack versions are irrelevant. There are three major types of Windows XP:
1) Retail - boxed software sold at stores
2) OEM - included with a PC
3) VLK - aka Corporate versions that are sold to large corporations to simplify their licensing. They have one code for their entire network of PCs.
There are also NFR (Not For Resale), Academic (student), RC (Release Candidate), and some other variants. All have codes that will only work with the specific version they were intended to work with.
If you need a copy of a CD, let me know and I can burn a copy for you and mail it to you, free of charge. BTW, this is not illegal, unless I were to also share a product code (CD Key).

I think it's an OEM since it came preinstalled on the gateway.
But the sticker on the bottom doesn't say retail or OEM anywhere so I'm unsure.
It just says
'Windows XP Home Edition'
Gateway.
Do you have the OEM version for a gateway? If you do, I'll pay you for the CD and the shipping.
Thanks!
Chris.
Sorry, I thought you had said Dell, but that is not important. Even if you had a Dell, you could still use a Gateway CD.
I can send you a Windows XP Home SP3 OEM CD that will work with your code for sure. Just PM me your mailing address and I will send it to ASAP.
It's my twist. Your money is no good here.
