JVC - Bongiovi Acoustics

Post by Ryan from Ohio »

I was browsing through some JVC stuff and stumbled on this beauty:

http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?model ... =54&page=1

It has some good numbers and generally the features I come to expect from JVC.

Then it has this "Bongiovi Acoustics DSP" and Im like WTF is that.

So heres what I found:

http://www.bongioviacoustics.com/produc ... arket.html

Appears to be similar in concept to the "Max Bass" eq/module that was a hot topic a few years back.

Then I went to Crutchfield to check the price as its exclusive to them:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDS100/ ... _and_specs

Thats right, $650 radio for $130.

I need $130 I want to try this.

Yea, I was wondering about this head unit myself. It looks too good to be true so I'm wondering if it is. One thing that it seems to lack is an EQ.

Sounds like marketing bs to me.

Introducing the Bongiovi Acoustics Virtual Subwoofer™ which utilizes the vehicle’s factory speaker configuration and requires no external subwoofer hookup. This reduces weight, requires no additional wiring and eliminates the need for extra speakers and amplifiers.

LOL what?

Uses the vehicle’s existing speaker system – no additional speaker installation required Satellite radio ready with optional adapter

LOL what?

So basically its a fancy radio for your stock speakers. Or am i missing something?

I love mine.

I found a coupon online that knocked 20 bucks off the purchase of any item over 100 bucks, so I got the head unit, installation kit, wiring harness and shipping for 109.99.

I don't think you can really go wrong with that price. I haven't gotten to play around with mine a lot yet, but so far I really like it!

You have this same model with this BS acoustics crap? Is it any different than a normal HU?

Damn that's a really nice looking receiver. That is one reason why I might buy it. How's the sound quality on it?
I'm looking for some cheap head unit to buy my girlfriend for christmas. I know all she really cares about is how it looks haha.
You still have that coupon code by any chance??

Yea? I don't think it does I've been reading all I could about that unit and I don't see anything about an EQ. If it had a 5 or 7 band that would be crazy, I would snatch it up quick haha.
It looks like I'm about to get it anyway though. The price is too good even if it is in average receiver with no EQ.
