i've been using some online box and port calculators, and what im coming up with is the port is to big for the box, one question though, do i calculate port area with total cu ft, or with cu ft after subs are installed? there will be a .28 difference. i have 2 options, i can make the port smaller by making the port walls thicker, or i can make it longer? making it smaller would be by far easier.

Are you subtracting the port volume from the enclosure volume? Anything inside the box needs to be subtracted from the enclosures volume (sub, port, bracing, midgets, etc.)cool mr grinch wrote:i've been using some online box and port calculators, and what im coming up with is the port is to big for the box, one question though, do i calculate port area with total cu ft, or with cu ft after subs are installed? there will be a .28 difference. i have 2 options, i can make the port smaller by making the port walls thicker, or i can make it longer? making it smaller would be by far easier.

Yes I need to calculate internal air space and take away the ports actual space.
When I do boxes I have an internal air space and a port specification. Then I have to make it all fit together properly in the allotted spaces.

Ok, well if the measurements you gave me are correct:
3.45 cubic foot before displacement, 3.27 cubic feet after sub displacement.
44Hz tuning
F3 34 hz
8.6 dB gain @ 48Hz
The box is to big and tuned to high. If you could add to the port length it would help greatly to lower the tuning and F3.
