killing the rattles

i've read about all kinds of sound deading companies . now one thing that caught my eye was something called PILL & SEAL which is for mobile home roof repair . the question is has anyone tried it & how well does it work ?

Works like shit...

To be frank.

A lot of people swear by it but most of then are just swayed by the cheap price and i think 90% of the reason they claim it works is the placebo effect.

Its Peal and Seal. That stuffs been around for some time with mixed reviews at best. The biggest issue is it wont stand up to the heat. When applying something like this to your car you surely dont want to install sub par products. If it melts and falls off you will have a gooey mess!

I installed Elemental Designs cheap stuff. It stuck pretty good but it melted and was soft on the 90 degree days with the windows up for a few hours. It didnt fall off but it didnt look pretty either...

never tried peal and seal heard it sucks in warm weather
i use
self adhesive foam duct insulation
self adhesive rope caulk
and cheap memory foam
it keeps me rattle free
gonna switch it out sometime for real sound deadener but for the last 2 years its worked fine for me

I've used some of that stuff in my truck. I didn't put it all over so I dunno how well it worked. As for the heat thing. I've been living in 100+ degree weather and I have never smelt anything. I'll check to see if it's still there :)

For the price I'd say try a little and see what happens.

don't touch it. unless you want to make a mess of your car and seriously **** some stuff up. even if it sticks and stays in place all you did was mass load the panel, the stuff is not good at damping vibrations.... (which is what you want it to do) - get something better, you don't really need that much.



to be honest, vibration dampers are barely necessary. A complete sound barrier made of something like mass loaded vinyl does wonders.



to kill rattles, a bit of closed cell foam between rattling pieces is great. or use some butyl rope, duct seal, or whatever.
