What would your dream headunit features be?

Are carputers more mainstream than I remember them being? Back about 4-5 years ago when I looked into them, you had to have a case installed somewhere in the car. Plus everything was basically home stuff shoved into a car, so I always wondered about reliability of it all.

You can build a nice carputer for maybe $800. mp3car.com has generic double din touch screens to make that part of the install easier. I've been wanting to build one for a while. Just haven't had the extra funds. I did buy a second install kit for my car to mount a screen to. lol. that's as far as I got.

I'll look into the carputer stuff again, I just remember them being a big pain and hassle from the stuff I read but that was a few years ago.
With the advancements in phones, I was just hoping that there was more of a push for an all-in-one type of thing on the horizon.

I think a tablet situation mounted in the car would be awesome. But I would want like the Ford Sync system or Siri (whatever that Iphone app thing is) or something along those lines.

What sizes do the tablets come in now? The camaro has a din and half size hole, I know I can modify it to fit double din.

Also with both the carputers, and tablets. How is the volume controlled?
Would want something on the screen that is accessible at all times, don't want to have to close/minimize programs just to turn it up 1

My dream hu would definitely have a fuzz buster built in, along with all the other sq bells and whistles, and not have ipod software that makes you scroll through each artist on a single display screen (stupid alpine, it takes forever to get through 300+ artists while driving)

Maybe something like this? It docks your i-phone and uses it for the radio faceplace, retaining all the functions. Hey, it's even called iRoc.

i wounder if xda developers know about this im sure theres a way to upgrade the android rom. i almost got a new phone but then i used the google source for android 2.2 on my milestone/droid which worked and was nice and minimal. right now i have steel droid on it. its android 2.3.5 its a bit much for the phone unless i overclock it then the battery doesnt last long. i think im gonna go back to my 2.2 build or one that was built by someone who actually knows what they are doing not just following some directions. cyanogenmod or miui maybe idk.

OO0WE5382L. should have a car mode most do now dont they? my phone i switch to car mode has big buttons for navigation making calls voice search. head up display so i can sit it on my dash and look at the window see how fast im going what direction etc.
