Adding an amp and subs to a Bose system?

Post by tweeter »

Hey all, a customer of mine (i do auto repair/modification on the side) wants to try to add an amp and 2 10's to her 2008 GMC Acadia with the Bose system, in-dash nav and reverse camera. Is there a way to add a second amp to the Bose system? She is not wanting to get rid of the Bose if she doesn't have to. How would i go about this?

Edit, i searched more and found a post talking about it...but its from 2007. Has anything changed since then or is the "Clean Sweep" or the "360" the best ways to do it?

You need a high end line output converter. One that will handle the post amp output of the bose system, and perferably one that can remove bose's crazy tuning.

If they don't want or need a full processor like the MS8 I would probable do the JL Clean Sweep.

So a normal line-out convertor wouldn't work on Bose? I'm just asking because someone tried to tell me it would.

No a normal one will not work with the bose system(it might play, but it won't sound worth a crap). To much amplification, and the signal will have Bose's EQ settings all over it.
