loudest setup for me

Post by Darthness »

Okay, since right now my budget isn't very big, and upgrading the electrical system (other then an optima battery) isn't really an option (unfortunently), I'm wondering what would be the best/loudest setup fo rme..

I'm kind of stuck between RE SE or RE12s, Alpine Type-R, and maybe KickerCVRs... The problem is that If i were to do a dual+ setup with everything bu tthe RE 12"s, i probably wouldn't be able to get another amp and upgrade the electrical system.. and feeding 2 12"s that can take a fair amount of power (Type-r's) waay under their peak and probably RMS doesn't seem seem smart to me.

So, would 2 Type-R subs in a good box on a 1200w amp get pretty loud, or should i look into a signle sub setup?

Also, how would RE12s compare to Type-Rs, as far as loudness goes?

edit: so all and all, i'm looking for somethign thats going to get fairly loud, basicaly just some bump in the trunk and rattle the interior of my saturn a bit more then my rear speakers (memphis) do :P

edit2: if you don't want to answer all that, just tell me what amp i should use to power say.. 2 RE 12"s, after watching the videos on Realm Of Excursion, i'm quite satisified. but the real quest is.. 2 12"s... or 3?

1200 watts is too much for a pair of type R subs in most cases.
you'd be fine with less power which would save you money and curent draw right there.
look at the RMS rating of those subs before randomly choosing an amplifier.

if you had the room you could go with 6 elevation audio comp 12"s or 10"s, they would be very loud and if you could wire them to work with your amp that would be a great setup.

hrm.. best buy says thier like 1400watts peak :P but thats best buy.... anyway i think im going to go with a couple RE 12"s , unless Sinister wants to send me 6 elevation comp 12"s and i'll just pay for shipping...

Anyone know if i could run 2 (or 3?) RE 12"s on a JL 500/1 amp? In a parallel, 2 dual 4 ohm subs createa 2 ohm load on an amp right? This should give abotu 250W peak to each sub, yes?

I said RMS, not peak. Peak is pointless.
Power Handling
Power Handling Capacity (Peak) : 1500W
Power Handling Capacity (RMS) : 500W

400 watts each would be plenty. If you really want to save money and power, go with a single 12" or 15" type R instead of a pair.

ok, i'm deffinitely considering a single 15"

but what about the RE12s? I'm kinda leaning nfor those.. like hard. but as i'm watching this video of sprkman's single 12" alpine type r powered by 2 memphis 1000d amps, i'm kinda getting a woody! :P but then i wont be able to give it that much power, but i could expact the same loudness with less power, yes?

Theres a video of a 12 and a 15" of his.. so Realm of Excursion says.

Eitherway, that stuff sounded flippin nice, but thats more power then i could afford :P
All i really want in a setup is something thats going to get fairly loud and sound good doing it.. i love it when i can feel my bass, and i'm scared that the RE 12"s may not deliver what i want as far as loudness goes (partially why i want to try them). If only there was a way i could actually HEAR them before i buy.. ya know...
