Buying component set....help

Alrighty. The time has come for an upgrade in the speaker area. Currently have CDT ef 61cfi/25 and I'm looking for a little more. I'm going purely for SQ, I don't have any preferences, for example I don't need the midbass to be a strength, I just want an all out balanced SQ set.

Right now I'm looking into the CDT HD series, and I'm looking into the Arc Audio ACS 265. Then there is this guy on caraudio.com.."Ology Audio". I guess he makes his own x-overs, and then uses Dayton tweets and Dayton mids from partsexpress to make component sets. I'm kind of skeptical about it, but if anyone wants to check it out the site is: http://www.hypercircuit.com/ologyaudio/reviews.html

My price range is about up to $400. I have a JL 300/4 so the set can either get 75wrms, or 150wrms. My doors are sound deadened well with edead.

So I'd love either some input on the sets im looking at, or some other sets to look at. Thanks guys, appreciate the input.

arc would be a good choice, dls would also be a good choice, im sure the elevation audio comps would be a good choice but i havent had any experience with them yet so you would have to talk to justin or someone about them.

elevations concert series are some beautiful speakers....have yet to hear them but build quality is top notch.. should get them playing this week though so more on that to come...

aside from that quart q series sound really good, a lot pricey though

For purist SQ, look at the above recommendations of ARC and DLS, Elevation is good stuff, also look at Dynaudio, Rainbow (if you can find them), Morel, CDT HDs would be a great choice as well. Dynaudio, Rainbow, and Morel would likely be landed on ebay for your price range, but well worth it. If you like MB Quart, Tweeter is dropping them, so you can get good prices on floor models and such, it would be the Premium comps in your price range, Qs are around $600 I think. Chances are that if you're looking at CDT HDs and Arc Audio, you probably wouldn't want a brighter set like MB Quart or Focal, though. JL XRs are a good set for the money spent as well.

you are correct about the MB quart brightness, im looking for more of a "laid back" tweeter.

you elevation guys will have to let me know what you think of those comps once you get them hooked up. Do you have prices for them yet?

and that damn ologyaudio, I guess his xovers are like $180. He said once he gets into a shop and starts distribution he will be selling them for around $700 a set, and irght now it will cost around $350. "I'm shooting for quality between Rainbow Profi Vans and Rainbow Platinum for a good price in the end"

he's using

Two RS150S-8 6” Midwoofers
Two RS28A-4 1 1/8” Tweeters

both are dayton I believe, from partsexpress. the mids are like $28 a piece and the tweeters are like $45. Might be using 7" isntead of 6", I will have to find out.
