Ive been working on building a car stereo since i got my first car my Junior year. I had on ok setup until some one broke my window while i was at the movies with my girlfriend. They stole my head unit and my subs, but luckily left my hi and lows amps.
I currently have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, and im slowly building back up. I have a cheap pioneer head unit that i dont car to memorize the numbers for since it cheap and shamful, lol. My subs, 2 Kicker 12" Comps(got them earlier this year when kicker has there buy one get one comp sale
), are in a Subzero ported box, not usually a ported box guy, usually like rock but comp dont put out as much as i want so i went for an easy fix. They are driven by a crap MTX 421D that puts out way to much distortion for its own good. The on thing i do like is my Zapco Reference 200.1 . May only be 200 watts, but they are CLEAN!! I love the symbolink technology, making even cheap stock speakers sound good, and so much better when i used to have Infinity Reference coaxles. All and all it is ok, better than plane o stock, but im looking to upgrade, SOON.My plan is to get 2 Alpine Type R's. And a decent amp, looks like JBL would be a good fit for me, at least better than my mtx right now. Wish it could a diamnd, or a zapco competition, but frankly i dont have a few thousand to spend. or a few hundred for that matter, to busy paying for apartment rent and that tahoe. And then hopefully an Alpine 9851, would go with a 9853 but i dont like the scroll feature on it.
But i guess thats enough for now, glad i found this place, already learned alot from reading all these threads.
AND alot of thanks to the ADMINS for the good, Bad, and ugly list, saved me alot misery in almost buying a very ugly amp.
