b/c i am already building my box to the max internal volume for a sealed box, so im not sure i would want to fool the box into thinking its any larger.

when looking at guides to make the box, when determing the depth of the sub box, it says that it is a good idea to leave two more inches than the depth of the sub, for the depth dimension.

for example. driver depth 7.7" so depth of box should be at least 9.7"

now is this b/c the sub will be shooting back towards the back of the box, and if so will two inches be enough or would it be better to make it 3 or more inches?

Thats because of the vent hole. Adding that extra spaces lets the sub breathe. If that hole was covered up. You'll be sitting there with a paper wieght.

No it's not necessary, there are just advantages to it.

They are telling you to leave a couple inches for the pole vent (the bottom part of the sub) so it can "Breathe". I don't quite understand the last part, but if you are just mounting the sub traditionally 2inches should be more than sufficient.

Typically the larger the sealed box the better extension at low frequencies, like ridr mentioned earlier. Keep in mind, I'm not positive, but I don't think the gains will be anything huge.

I wouldn't even worry about it if I were you.

Nah, the gains wont be huge from stuffing the box. If you are already building it to max. spec, i'd say leave it alone. You should be happy w/ the end result.
