Swap front and rear speakers??

Current setup:

crap speakers up front (left speaker working and right speaker blown)
infinity kappa perfect 60i (rear)
pioneer deh-p6600 head unit
kicker punch 200a4 for front and rear

getting kicker kx400.1 and
alpine type r 12" in the mail pretty soon

so i hear that when you have a powerful sub it sometimes drowns out the rear speakers.

so my question is should i buy some infinity reference 6002i speakers to replace my front speakers i have now?

or...

should i buy the infinity's references and swap them with my kappas, so the references would be in back and the kappas up front?

or...

should i just not buy any front speakers at all and just put the kappas up front? (since i hear the sub might drown out the rears)

Well if you want a good sound stage you will want more sound coming from the front two speakers. My suggestion is to install your sub and listen to it as is. Then take the fronts out and put the rears in the fronts and listen to it that way. Odds are you will like the second way much better, which leaves you with a couple options:

1.) Keep that swap, and buy some rear speakers.
2.) Take out the front speakers, buy some new fronts, and keep the rears
3.) Take out the front speakers, buy some new fronts, and ditch the rears.

Personally I would go with 2 or 3, depending on what your style is. I don't like rear fill, so I only have two speakers in my car, the front components, and thats it.

If you do like the sound of music coming from the back, I would do number 2, and just move the fade up all the way, and then start to come back to the rear until you can just barely tell anything is coming from the back.

I don't think I'd go out and buy infinity references, there is better out there for the money. I'd at least get Kappas, but still, lets start a budget, research a little, decide comp vs. coax and go from there.

Yeah i guess i will just wait until i set everything up and then decide what i want to do. the only thing that sucks is there is something wrong with the fade on my HU, like when i try to put it all the way up front it still stays all in the rear, and i have no way to make it go to the front. Maybe inputs in the amp are in wrong? any ideas?

What is comp vs coax?
is comp like a component systems and coax like just a pair of normal speakers?

and what did you have in mind for better speakers for the money? because infinitys are pretty good if the references are anything like the kappas. and i can get a pair off ebay for about $60. is there anything less expensive that is better?

A component system has a separate woofer and tweeter and encompasses a crossover.
Coax's have the woofer and tweeter built together.

Component systems will usually sound better, since each individual speaker is getting specific frequencies.

Put those up front, and leave it. Hook up your rockford on em, and they will shine. The last car I had, I took out the rear speakers, and only had the front two. IMO it sounds a lot better with just the front speakers going. Unless you do like the way it sounds, then get the same kind, and your set.

its all about personal preferance. i like to have just a little sound from the rear.
swap your fronts and rears, so the aftermarkets are in the front, and see how you like it. if you like having rear fill, keep the kappas in the back, and get a good set of comps. if you dont like the rear fill, just keep the kappas up front, and remove stock from rear.

i'm sorta leaning towards putting the kappas up front and not getting any more speakers. (so much money ). But ill just wait and see what i like.

do you guys have any ideas as to why my fade isnt working properly
on my HU?
