Subwoofer:Amplifier

If an amplifier puts out like 500 wrms and is hooked up to a 600 wrms subwoofer will it not hit as hard as a 500 wrms subwoofer?

It will be inaudible, unless your talking about say a Jl audio sub rated at 600rms vrs a cheap junk sub rated at 500 rms. The JL will blow it away. It is just a thermal rating anyway, stating how many watts it can handle continuously over a long period. Watts wont tell you how a sub will sound, or perform. Just look at audiobahn for instance. They clam all there subs handle 80,000 watts, but they still sound like butt.

High society pretty much hit it on the head.

Subs can perform their best w/ less than half the power, its all in the install.

I will use William from NOLA as an example again. The Brahma he has can handle well over 1000 watts, and he is using 600 and hits low 140's.

X2, you make or break a system in an install. Maybe thats why my RE 8's are whoopn up on these JL luva's
