i can't decide...

alright, i just got in my jl audio xr 6 1/2" components, and my kick panel enclosures for my 2000 cavalier. Presently i only have 1" tweeters for my front stage sitting on my dash, and I kinda like the sound being up higher like that. these will be gone once i install my components. The thing is, i don't know where to mount these jl tweeters. Everyone says that these have a steep crossover and need to be close to the mid range, but i dont know if im gunna like the sound that low, being next to my foot in the kick panels. If i did put them in the dash, it would be about as close to the winshield as i can, flush mounted. Im going home for thanksgiving and my dad, being a carpenter, has every tool i could need, so i kinda wanna do all this in the next few days. so...what do you guys think....?

Components should always be kept as close together as possible for best sound.

seperating them is a bad idea in my mind my blazer had stock 3/4 inch tweeters in the dash and i hated them... ripped them out and put in premier plate speakers

that was easy enough. thats also makes install alot easier too, cuz i wasnt lookin forward to cuttin hole in my dash.

heck I am thinking about placing the 6.5" mids in the dash with my tweeters and the other 6.5" midbass in the kicks. Then utilize the stock speaker locations for some custom crossover mounts.

mind you, my car doesn't have any stock dash locations.

Isnt it nice to have a dad as a carpenter?

I believe when you put comps in the kicks, you are supposed to angle the speakers to the opposite side of the car. (Can anyone verify this?) That way the sound is moving toward your ear, not towards the center console.

thats how these are angled, to the opposite side. i just cant wait to get home tonight. i also have to figure out where im gunna put my sirius tuner box. any suggestions?

thats what i always thought ted... slight angle makes a ton of diffrence in my opinion but hey im just a dumb spl guy lol
