Car Speakers

Right now i have stock speakers and 2 15" Kickers in the back. I want to get some speakers for my doors and back panels. My first question is what is the difference between component speakers and say like a 2-way speaker. And what would be better with having subs. I have been looking speakers by infinity, kicker, alpine, and pioneer. I want to know what would be the best setup and best brand for my setup. And i am only planning on spending around $250.

components are exactly what they say they are.. separate components, meaning woofer and tweeter.. most stock speakers are full range speakers while components have the woofer to play ~2.5-3khz and lower while the tweeter plays everything above. components are definitely better for soundstage. is the 250 for an amp and speakers? its hard to recommend specific speakers.. what is your taste in music? are u looking for more sound quality(SQ) or more sound pressure level(SPL) or a mixture of both(SQL)..

I was trying to gear towards not having to buy an amp and just running the speakers off of my alpine head unit. I would spend up the $250 for just the speakers and ill find an amp. I listen to basically everything.... rock to rap. About the brand names, i just wanted input on what people thought about each brand, i can search to find a model that will fit my price and what will fit my car too. If meaning sound pressure as bass... i'm fine with the subs so i guess i would want sq or sql speakers

well, if you dont plan on amplifying the speakers, then you really cant use components.. you can always get coaxials(one speaker, but the tweeter is mounted on the woofer)

for the brands, check out the FAQ under the good, bad, and ugly list to use as reference as to which brands are good or not

All of the brands i listed and have been looking at - kicker, pioneer, infinity, alpine - are all in the good section but do you have any opinions about which brand has somethin better/worse??

elevation audio is pretty popular around this forum.. you can contact justin about them, he is a dealer. i personally run diamond audio components and i love them.

if your running 15's and powering them properly you are gonna want to invest some money in some decent speakers and an amp or you wont hear them very well and it wont matter what you get.......planning on an amp down the road is a good way to start but i would definitely get some decent coax speakers that can handle some power....my shop i work at is an elevation dealer and their coax speakers can handle a lot of power and sound better the louder you play them......typically you are looking at like 99 a pair for a set of cx6.1's

So would i be able to get a pair that would just slide into the stock speaker holes?? And until i would be able to get an amp, these would be fine just running off of the HU, right?
