bass problem

Hello, I have a 2000 Elantra with an older Pioneer deck actually it was one of the first full display ones but anyway I installed some Rockford Fosgate 6x9's in the rear and when setting the sound equal between the two I get no bass, now if I put it so all the sound is all on one side they sound good and bump but as soon as I put it in the center of the rear speakers it sounds like crap?

I tried swapping wires around no luck. Could my deck not be powerful enough to power both at one time and only one?

any help would be nice here as my thing is working on bikes and cars and I'll leave these problems to the audio freaks lol.

I am not sure what I am reading here, but are your 6x9's not playing in stereo or are they and just have no midbass? First I would think that the HU is trying it's hardest to provide the right power, but may be lacking somewhat. Next possibility is that the HU's internal amp is losing or lost a channel. Either way, I would look into maybe upgrading the HU to something more current, or replacing the speakers. There are alot of better minds on here than mine so guys post up and let's help him out.

There speakers are playing in stereo but if you were to put all the music to the right rear speaker you will hear good bass, now as soon as you put all the music into the center of both the right and left rear speakers you here no bass. Hope this helps explain it better.

The headunit itself is one of hte first ones that had the moving car on it, dolphin etc.., when I had my stock speakers in the car it sounded pretty good with them so.

what pioneer deck is it sounds to me like you are just short on power...

Its a Pioneer DEH-6400, thats what I figured that the system is low on power, and these RF supposedly were rated at the time when I bought them powerhouses that sounded good even with there own amp running them.

Hmm...i had a 6300 or 6400 running 6x9's and they didnt sound half bad. I mean amped they could have been better, but they still sounded decent. I might try amping them first. That may be your main problem, especially if they are rated high.

You really wont get any bass outta them 6x9's if they ae powered off your HU. Throw a low powered amp on them,and they sound shine.

any suggestions to where I could pick up an amp that will power them and not put a dent in my wallet, Im mad poor on money all the time so. I figure even a $30 special closeout cheap amp would work lol.

If your not really looking to go more into a system. Are you? I would say go ahead. Any amp, would be better then trying to push power with your CD player.
