Gettin kinda pissed now

Post by OnYrMrk »

Hypothetical question:

Let's just say you have spent over $7000 on a system with install, put your own time in hushmatting the car, supported the shop, took up for the shop, and now, having your car in said shop for over a 2 weeks, and all they have done is take the dash out, use some cardboard and cut out the dash to make the components fit, havent done any of the speaker placement for better imaging...just put the speakers in....then the shop told you that the fabrication of the speaker enclosure/dash fiberglassing would take place no later than yesterday, then you arrive at the shop and see two vehicles, both with over $5000 worth of stereo equipment bought at said shop, sitting on their tires with not so much as an ounce of labor put forth to them, but having both installers working on some customer who bought his equipment from an ebay seller, wanting his 6 amps and 3 subs installed ahead of yours...and this sale is only about 200bucks worth of wire and labor...my question is....

WOULD YOU PUT UP WITH THIS SHIT OR TAKE IT UP WITH MANAGEMENT?

I did the latter. And management now is having a meeting this morning at 9 to discuss the serious lack of support scheduling by the sales staff to the installers.

to say I am pissed, is a gross understatement

thanks man, actually the installers I hired back when I managed Traffic Jams, my old store. They are actually my friends, and they believe the same way I do. Good luck on the installer hire...it is not as bad as you think...unless you are looking for someone who is as meticulous as you are.

well If I thought I could live without it for awhile, I would send it out to you guys there in SD...

but not being able to check it out a few days at a time would drive me crazy. Still, depending on the shipping to get my car there, well that might be an option in the coming year.

Perfectionists dont cut it in the install bays.

They will loose you money every time. Afterall there is no such thing as "good enough"

This is why I dont do installs for people but friends or if I need the cash badly or they pay the premium rate...

Is there a reason why you can't do it yourself?

ask him everything you know and if he can answer around 75% off the stuff you know then he should be too bad. make sure he can do all the wireing need on subs and amps and see what other skills he has. i get a few people a week looking for jobs and i know they dont know jack shit just from talking to them for 5 mins. take a look at his car if he has a system and see how he ran the wire and everything.
