Have you ever had that feeling?
lately i have been having this feeling of loosing interest in car audio. i guess because all i see is people wanting the cheapest crap i can get and what it as loud as possible. and the trouble i have been having with some of the car audio stuff just makes me want to do something else. Im really thinking about going all out in home audio and making some high end and also some really nice yet afforadable speakers. i think im gonna start with some very high output yet awsome sounding sub boxes then ill design my own book shelfs then some floor standers and what ever someone would want. im thinking about coming out with a coffin style box for bookshelfs/subs/and floor standers. so what have you guys been feeling lately? do you think my idea is acceptable or is my brain fried from to many ghetto blasters.

It will probably be just a phase. I went through a phase like that not too long ago. I just seemed to lose interest in it altogether. But I think I just needed a break, which is probably what you need.
I'd try to pick up a different hobby until you forget about car audio (besides working) and then you will regain interest eventually.

I've lost a little interest over the years, but being an old school SQ guy it's pretty much inevitable with the way the car audio industry is swinging.
What got me into car audio to start with was the cars. It started off with the old Mustang I had (I posted a pic on this page: http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forums/s ... hp?t=3587), then really got off once I got my Camry because the stock door spots SUCKED in that car. Last car was a '69 Mercury Cougar XR-7 convertible, that was my favorite car out of all of them. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of that one because I ended up selling it so quickly. Lately I've been in the process of building a house, have been between jobs, and just haven't had a lot of time to work on any projects because I'm watching my daughter at night (a lot of the reason I'm on the forum so much). Add the fact of the entire "tuner" hobby, the saturation of the market with riceboy crap car audio equipment, and the overall lack of interest for anything respectable in the industry has caused my passion to taper off a good bit compared to years ago.

Well, I could see how that could happen. My first "Real" customer since I'm doing the JC's Customs thing told me the other day "Hey man, I got a friend who's getting me a sweat deal on a 1000w BOSS sub!! I'm also getting some audiobahn 6x9's for the back and two Audiobahn amps!!" I'm like "okay, well if you want to go that way...." I try not to knock other brands to potential customers, but man it was hard not to!! Oh well, didn't want him as a customer anyway, lol. Besides that, already got two more to do that are definite!! woot! One is an edx with two dx1500.1's, yeah you heard me right!!

I wax and wane in interest all the time.. sometimes I leave for a bit and concentrate on other hobbies, then come back when I've had time to regroup my thoughts. I'm sure everybody goes through that though. I don't get very excited about most new stuff anymore, and I know what you mean about everybody wanting cheap and loud. I tell people the same thing with audio I do with cars.
"Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?"
I'm sure mechanics deal with this just as much as wel do with people wanting everything for nothing. It's just part of the game.
