Polyfill

I decided to add some polyfill to my sealed box with 2 Kicker comp vr's to see if I could get a better response with low frequencies. I used one package for each side of the baffled enclosure and have noticed no difference. I love the punch that these subs have, but would like some better SPL at lower frequencies.
FYI, I used winlsd to design my box to factory specs and it is at 1.25 cubic feet per side. I am thinking about adding a port to get the better low response, what does everyone think?

In order to add a port you will have to build a brand new box. You cant just add a port to anybox. You will want to build a box that is bigger. Try looking on kickers website for a tech manual fo your sub (i kno they have them for my L7...they should for yours). They give box designs in the tech manuals that you can base a box off of.

What size subs do you have? Kicker specs call for a 0.8cf - 3.0cf box for a 10" & 1.0cf - 4.6cf box for a 12" & 1.8cf - 5.3cf for a 15" compVR.

I used to own (2) 10" compVR and found that it hit hardest and loudest in a box with the minimum volume (I built 3 different boxes for them).

Just my observation of course

Mine are 12's and I built my box toward the small end of the recommended range to save some trunk space. They definitely hit hard, but I still think they don't produce enough at really low frequencies.

in a smaller box, they wont.

if you want low boom with those sealed... 1.5 cubes each is the ticket.

Go with 1.75 cubes each if your running under 400 per woofer.

I have been thinking about some box designs but would like to try this box ported first. I will have to check Kicker's specs to see what they recommend for volume before I do that though.

According to the kicker site, they recommend between 1.75 and 2.25 cu.ft. ported. You can download the manuals off of kickers website.

they *eat up* 2.5 cubes on music, 1.8 is a pretty sweet fart box
