Cargodz. I'm not too sure about the blade series. there are 2 differant series of Blade, the blade extreme, and just plain ole blade.

Model numbers for the Blade Extreme start with BLX. Model numbers for the Blade series start with BL.

The Blade Extreme seems to be the better. The BLX5000 does not have any onboard fuses.

Try 30volts off a Boss PD-2000 at 1ohm per channel (each channel is 30 volts AC with a 50hz test tone). I don't think that's bad at all, for Boss.

Remember a model AVA-240? I think that's what it was called. lol. I used to have to install those. Man I hated that. What a waste of time. I worked for a guy back in the early/mid 90s who sold Boss. I tried to do a decent system with that stuff once. I tore it all out and went with a multi channel Audio Art, Kicker Reference in the front and Comp sub. The boss sytem lasted about two weeks. Just not my style of stuff I guess.

No arguement here, the old Powerdrive systems were the only ones worth while and according to the Boss Rep I talked to, were the baseplate design behind the new Blade BLX series and also the BL3KD which seems a very good amp for a lower end brand.

P.S. that old ava unit was a nightmare

I have a friend that use to LOVE Pyramid, then he bought 4 12w0s and hasnt looked back...

its interesting but my cuz had an Old Boss Riot Series amp 300w x 2 at 4 ohms i believe and we had it bench tested for shits and giggles and it actually did 584w at 2 ohms bridged. So it wasnt too far off i guess

I think reliabilty is more of an issue though...

I've used some peoples' PD-3000 and PD-4000 model amps some time back, and they seemed to work pretty well. Others, not so great.
very hit or miss with BOSS.

I would think it would be worth the extra money and have the sure thing.
