Alternator question

Post by turbogoose22 »

I gotta alternator problem. i was drivin down the road and then my radio starts goin out and so im like wtf is my HU becomin unplugged or is the wirring comin loose so i just shut it off so then im stopped at a light and my car dies. so i get it jumped and go up to the service station and what i thought then was the alternator was f'ed up so i got it replaced and got priced gouged. now i got a 97 blazer and a 1000 watt rms amp. I was just wonderin if my alternator will keep goin out or will it last. If it is goin to go out again what measures should i take to prevent buying a new alternator every 2 months??? Thanks To All That Answer

Make sure you get a fairly bigger alt than stock if the stock one went out. An alt in the 160a range should be sufficient. My brothers alt. went out in spring and he was only running 400rms on his 99 Ford Explorer. Maybe it is a Ford thing... Fix Or Repair Daily.

blazers and gm vehicles are a lot of fun when it comes to alternators....just get a unit that is designed for car audio....dont have it rewound or anything, those have built in regulators and the regulator needs to be built for the unit as well........
