Sony Xpod 480 Watt Amp help

This is the same amp I had trouble or I think its the amp. Heres the problem when I first cut the beat on it sounds real good but then the sub lays off the music then comes back on beating again then goes off an comes back on again...it goes off for about 5 seconds each time them comes back on again. Some of my friends say its the wiring but the only thing I wired myself was the remote wire could that be the problem? An the amp gets really hot to can anyone help?

check the way that the subs are wired as well. Sounds like the amp is going into protection mode. Are the subs dual 2 ohm subs? If so you most likely have a 1 ohm load being sent to the amp. Sony Amps are not 1ohm stable.

ur going to burn up the amp because you dont know what your doing. i dont mean to be harsh but i see this everyday a bunch of guys your age are wiring up stereos and have no idea what there doing they incorretly wire things until they blow up. you have the amp wired to low you u need to re wire the amp so it sees a correct impedance

If I remember right we determined your subs were single 4 ohm. Yeah, you are wiring it to low. Didn't you say you were bridging the amp? Do you still have it bridged, thats the problem if so. You need to wire each sub into their own channel, and not bridge them accross channels.

The amp is not going into protection mode it just plays the beat when it wants to basically. As for wiring the amp its the same way the professionals did it when I took my car to get it done. As for wiring the amp its basically selft explanitory battery, ground, remote, and plugs, goes where it goes its just basically the sub wires. On the amp itself shows me that I can bridge the sub if I dont then the sub really sounds like garbage.

take it to a profesional and just because the amp says you can bridge it doesnt mean its safe to do so. do you know what an ohm is?

Naw I dont know what it is. Someboy said to turn the gain down on the amp but there three nobs on the amp that I dont what they mean. There LEVEL, LOW BOOST, an FILTER nobs on the amp which on do I turn down or turn up?

Ohm is impedance. A subwoofers voice coil is measured in ohms. If you had two 8 ohm subs, or two dual 4 ohm subs, then yes, you could bridge it, and yes, the amp is bridgeable. However, any and all amps have limits as to how low of an ohm (impedance) load they can handle. As for your setup, by bridging your subs on that amp you are exceeding what that amp is capable of handling as far as load (ohm, Impedance).

I second what Bill is saying, take it back to the professionals, if they did the work, then they should fix the problem.

Turn down the one that says level. I doubt that is giong to fix your problem. The reason you subs sound like poop when they are not bridged is that the amp does not put out much power at that level.

To help you understand, resistances, ohms, impedance, all the same. Resistance is a good term. The less resistance, the more power. To little resistance, you get protection, or in your case back and forth. Does that make any sense?

Ok ok so theres no way for me to push out more power when the amp is not bridge?
