it sounds like the sx may have been a better sub for you if your not impressed with the se, and since it seems like output is higher on your priorities than sound quality.

EDIT: also, what headunit do you have?

Wrong box IMO. I'd have gone 2.5 cubes@32-34 hz. Especially with only 600w RMS. Although RE rates them at 600w RMS it's very conservative. I ran a Viper D1200.1 to mine@2ohms sending it approx. 800w RMS and I would have loved to give it more. Mine got really loud for a 12 actually. Louder than my CompVR 15 and Alpine Type R in the same enclsoure as the SE.

Headunit is a Pioneer Premier deh-p960mp.

I personally think 1.75cuft is more than enough. Its just the right size for my boot (with a small space to spare). I wouldn't want it any bigger.

Any ideas for a pre made package?

Are there speakers in your rear shelf? Try taking one or both out and see if you just had a well sealed trunk.

No speakers in the rear shelf.

I have a feeling the box isn't tuned right.

What area are you in?

I happen to know a lot over there thats pretty cool.

Providing your not a chav (doesnt appear so) they might be able to help you out by giving it a listen.

But sitting behind this computer and looking at the car, Im guessing a few things.

First off your alternator is probably pretty small. In other words, you may not have the amperage to support 600 WRMs.

Secondly the box. Who designed it? Is it designed specificaly for that sub?

Last, while you set the gain the reccomended way its not the only way. You should be able to put that gain up to 3/4 way on that amp...

I'm in Hampshire, England.

No i'm not a chav.

I've listened to it with the engine on and engine off, no difference.

The box design was from JL Audio. But the specs are almost dead on with what RE Audio used to recommend (on their old site they recommended 1.8cuft at 32hz - mine is a 1.75cuft at 32hz).

I ran my 15" SE in 3.7 @ 31Hz with a long port, it's my favorite sound to date.
