Anyone ever seen a double din in a Camaro?

well, just took some measurements, and I don't see anyway to squeeze that in there. With the 6 1/2 depth of the unit, it would hit the hump. So it would stick out about an inch or so out of the dash.

This darn car, always something!!

Do you know much about them?

I really like the idea of the screen up front, but then I wonder what the SQ from something like that in a car environment.

i don't know *alot* about them, but mp3car forums are filled to the brim with smart people and information

someone on Joe's team competes with a car pc, i belive.

I just registered and going to start doing some researching on them.

FM/AM radio is another thing I need to learn more about with them, don't want to lose my ability to listen to T-Man on the way to work!! and then Talk radio no the way home (lol)

Could you flip the heater controls to the bottom... and would that give you the extra room?

I've been thinking of that too. The DD units are 4inches high, so that would be a really tight fit. But maybe it can be done, if I make a custom trim piece.

That's what we had to do, but we were able to leave the heater controls in place, but it still looks do-able if you've got the room behind where the controls are now... You may have to extend some wires though.

Why not just get a single-DIN unit with a flip-out touchscreen that does everything the Eclipse does?

Added benefit: The screen will be higher and closer to your fingertips than if you squeezed in a double DIN way down there.

The main problem with the flip out units, is I think when the car is in park. If it were to try and open the screen. It would actually hit the shifter, there isn't that much room from the head unit, to the shifter.

Plus I've never really cared for the flip out units, just personal preference I guess. I like how the indash has a more factory look to it.

I'll figure something out with this car, I have awhile before I actually purchase anything.

That would be Jan Bennett, she competes with a carputer in her 2000 VW GTI VR6. Just got sponsored with it too..had to move up in her class to Advanced Pro because of it also.
