Like I said, you'll really eff things up if you put a speaker with any other impedance on that crossover. Changing the impedance changes the crossover point. Don't worry about the power handling on the mids as much as the mid being what you're looking for. If the Dayton driver catches your eye, buy it up and give it a shot. Hardly 60 something bucks for a new set of mids shipped. I don't know what you were running before, but it'll probably be better if your previous mid was from a cheap set.
Remember that the install will be key, as opposed to a driver being "simple" or "complicated" :)

Edit: Unless of course it's just simply for sound. The Dayton's will do fine. Also remember that you'll probably get better midRANGE as your speaker gets smaller in diameter. That's not any hard, fast rule, but obviously as you get smaller, you'll also lose midbass. Everything's give and take.
Just read this part... I think that i would want a little extra midbass than range now that i think of it... My current Highs can handle some good midrange but what im looking for is the depth of the Lower midbass...

For example... I want to really hear each different pitch and sound of the high to the low tom-toms on a drum set... that would be really what im looking for..

Then you'll want to look at probably the 7s. Midbass is a tough thing in a crappy car environment. I'm not sure how high the Extremis mids will go, but those things have like 10mm of Xmax. I think they cost a bit too, though.

Just checked the FR graphs on the Dayton 7" and 8". Output on the 7" starts to drop off around 2Khz and the 8" around 1.5Khz.
Another thing I just thought about was if the crossover had a Zobel filter, that might make the new mid sound weird.

Your attention to detail is much appriciated... I really want to go with the 7" I dont feel like cutting too too much in the door to fit an 8". Now should i completely seal the door as much as i can when i put them in?

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away, was gone for awhile after work.
The idea on sealing the door is to isolate the front and rear waves of the speaker. Them combining could cause cancellation. You probably don't want to seal the door up to make it like a sealed enclosure (good luck with that, hell of a time doing it :) ). I've read too many stories of people sealing their mids and losing a ton of midbass. Just make sure you mat and ensolite your doors up real well. Cover any holes in your door that may let air through to the front. Mount the driver on a baffle (just a mounting ring should work ok) and attach the baffle to your door. Some people recommend de-coupling the driver/mount from the door using soft modeling clay, I guess to help with vibrations, but I'm not sure about its effectiveness or validity (never tried it myself).
I would suggest going with the 7 and not the 8. You'll probably lose too much precious midrange with the 8. You're already losing enough by going with the 7.

I was gonna recommend the AA 6.5" poly mids(which are actually closer to 7") but they're now out of stock.

I bought a pair on Saturday(which should be at my door in a couple hours) and I checked their online ordering system again on Monday to find them unavailable. Chad assured me that my pair would be getting shipped out later that day(and they were) so I obviously snagged one of the last sets :thumbsup

Funny, I was just about to recommend those based on another person's positive experience with their bang for the buck.
