Mono amp help

Post by Way 2 Fonky »

First what do you guys think of this amplifier? http://cgi.ebay.com/MA-Audio-M1889i-800 ... dZViewItem

It's a class D mono ma audio amp. I plan on using it to power two 300w rms subs. The mono amp status is confusing me a little though.
I know you can hook up a mono amp to two subs, but this amp only has 1 speaker terminal. Would I still be able to hook this amp to two subs?

Another thing I read somewhere on crutchfield that a class D amp can run close to it's peak power in a low ohm mode. Is this true? I plan on running this to 2 subs at a 2ohm load , but I see no rms wattage for the 2 ohm load, only the max that is why i'm asking.
All Help Is very much aprecciated.

First... MA Audio amps have been known to be power hogs and they aren't exactly the best quality, but it works if you are on a budget. Now that one is a smaller amp, but there can be better out there for just a lil more cash. If you want some other options, I would talk to Cargodz, Smoker, or Joeyc about some other deals they might have.

You can wire 10 subs up to that amp if you want to!! What you do is wire the subs together instead of the subs wired individually into an amp.
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofe ... ations.asp - go there, enter in the amount of subs you have and the coil configuration and it will give you the ways you can wire them together!

Most Class D amps are 1ohm stable, but some are only 2ohm. They are designed to put out more power at a lower ohm because it is less resistance. And not amplifier will ever come close to its peak power. Always look at its rms power. The rms power is the most clean power the amp will deliver.

Just for clarification (my guess), that class D MA Audio amp is probably a power hog in reference to other class D amps. It's still more than likely more efficient than a standard class A/B amp.

Edit: And you get hyper speed shipping! Who can resist?!?!? hahah

Well as a MA Dealer I can tell you... That amp is not a class D amp... It is a monoblock, but not all monoblock amps are class D

No those are some of the other MA amps :p

I know I've been pushing the Massive stuff a lot lately (but hell it's damn good equipment)... so take a look at the P500.1.... It's a true class D amp... Massive has it listed for $251.96 plus shipping, but I can do a lil better than that ;) ... It just means that you'd have to save a lil more though.
