motor vibration causing skipping

I have racing motor mounts in my car that are a little bit harder than the stock. It increased the vibration in the car a little bit, but I never had this problem with the sony HU I had in for a few days or the alpine I had in before this. I know it's not the cd being scratched because if I revv up the motor in neutral it skips, and if I just sit in my car with it running it will play every song flawlessly. Is there anything I can do about this?

I was thinking of going back to walmart and doing an even exchange for another one (just exchange my pioneer 4900ib for another one)

Any ideas?

hummm thats strange, i have the same model, just last years design, and have never had a problem with skipping no matter how big of a bump i hit, or how loud my subwoofers get, i wonder if anything was changed with the cd mechanism in the newer model? I would definatly try to exhange it because some vibration shouldnt cause a cd to skip.

mine did it with CDRs but not with store bought CDs
just skipped like crazy

exchanged it for a new one. no problems with skipping now.

the only thing I can think of is that the deck was pretty hot to the touch the other day. i was changing cd's and felt the cd was hot, so I pulled out the deck and sure enough the whole metal case was hot too.

My ac/heat leaks a little bit and it's right above the radio. With the deck out, and the heat cranked all the way up, the deck cage gets hot (from the hot air). Could it have over heated?

could this "over heating" have caused the problem??

The overheating could be an issue, as most electronics don't like excessive heat, best suggestion would be to insulate the bottom of the AC-Heater controls... but make sure that there is still enough room for a lil air around the h/u.

well tonight (~6 degrees) it started to skip when the car was at 2K rpms. i'm the problem wouldn't exist if i didn't have the racing motor mounts.

is this a reason to just return the HU and get something different? i never had this problem with the sony HU or my other alpine HU.

never had a problem with mine skipping even with all the bass and potholes and sht i hit..

i had the same problem with mine...

i dont know what model number it was, it was the pioneer walmart special..

i had it in an offroad truck and it didnt have any problems with store bought cds, just burned ones.

My friend has the same unit (4900iB) that he bought at Best Buy. Put it in my car, no problems. I talked to a friend that owns a local car audio shop and was told WalMart gets alot of B-Stock items and "bad" shipments. Guess it's true.
