Sorry to hear about your friend. But remeber, a gun didn't kill him, an idiot who had a gun killed him. :)

I like that shirt in Happy Gilmore that Happy's boss was wearing when he beat up Shooter McGavin... "Guns dont killl people. I kill people"

hhaha i love that movie... Personally in my state u are not allowed to even fire a handgun or possess one under the Age of 21... If you are lookign to just shoot at the range and not personal protection a trusty old 22 is a great gun to take to the range to plink off some rounds... Also a 9mm isnt bad either...

I suggest the Walther P22, its cheap and fun to shoot.
As for a 9mm, I really like Sig Saur's 9mm as well as the new SW99 that is a remake of the Walther P99... A lil pricey though around $400-$500

In other words they won't go out and do a number on people they don't like, their school or any other kind of terroristic shooting. I agree with that too.
ok and how are you gonna screen for that? while were at it lets ban everything that you could possibly use to harm another.

bwhahahaha i just bought the P22 it has a few small issues common to rimfire 22's but nothing crazy i paid 249.99 for it and i love it. i take it to the range with me to shoot everytime. and the following is why

.45 ACP = 100rounds = 28.99
.22HVLR = 550rounds = 6.99

sure the 22 doesn't have the quick or the adrenalin rush like the .45 but its still a great time and isnt insanely exp! like the 45. plus your GF will shoot the 22 mine runs when i shoot the 45 and wont even try to shoot it.

as far as what i would recommend i would do the following

for a range and target fun shooting go with the P22 as the value option or the siqsauer mosquito. prices are around 250 and 375 respectfully.

for something bigger look at the Springfield armory XD-9 (449.99) or ruger KP-95 (259.99 to 359.99) berreta also makes a nice 9mm now but its about 600 bucks

I am unable to release the Mag with my hand on the P22... i hate that... although i find the grips very nice and the trigger assembly nice as well... THe Mosquito is a nice gun.. a bit bigger than the P22 but has great build quality... and not to mention looks bad ass...

I too have trouble with those far releases (slide and mag). I have smaller hands than a lot of people. That poses a small problem for a lot of large frame handguns. I have found that it is easier for me to use larger handguns now that I've shot smaller ones for a while. Maybe it's practice... who knows.

well uh thats the point... there's no sure way to screen a person based on their morals or what is morally right. also i duno why you gotta be a smartass to what i was saying, i said that both sides of the argument were equal and i dont have a method to take the guns out of the hands of the bad people. my stance on guns is that they are unneccessary and lead to bad things though and that wont change

Calm down buddy, I'm not the enemy.
And first of all, most other weapons arent capable of dropping somebody from 100 yards away. In fact, the only ones I can think of are illegal.
MOST, if no all states have knife laws...
In California anything capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon is illegal, concealed knifes are a felony.
Now dont get me wrong, I'm not anti fire-arms, in fact I go over to my cousins house all the time to shoot and have a blast doing so....
I'm not saying that we should ban guns all together, I AM saying we should ban idiots from having them though. :happy055:

And sorry darth for high jacking your thread. I agree with the .22 statement though, the amo is cheap and they are still fun to shoot. I dont have alot of experince with pistols though, so no advice on which on to get.
