Hey Ryan, are you serious about the Cadence component set? Has anybody heard these speakers? I was ready to spend ~$200 on front set of components but that Cadence set is under $100! I saw in one of Ryan's other threads that he's trying to achieve the best sound system with the most ghetto parts. I hope this isn't part of that quest!

Please someone tell me about those cadence components because until today I never even gave them a thought.

Waldo is running all cadence soon I guess...

Im not sure if they are a good set or not.

Looks good.

Cadence offers a variety of items factory direct and slashes out the middleman/dealer, eventhough they have them....lol

Thats direct from Cadence also...

Also Im not building my budget SQ on the ghettoest of parts. Im building it on a very tight budget! Everything is decent stuff, much of it used. Some of it might make people scratch their heads... Especially the sub... But I know Im a believer in it. I have faith in the Bravox also... Avionixx used to be a well known cheaper company thanks to eD.. ugh... Old Alpine head unit, nothing wrong with that. Im sure its built better than 80% of newer ones ;)

Ok ok, just messing around. =P

I came from Pioneer Rev series (6.5 and 6x9s). I thought their tweeters were too big and their midbass was really weak. I'm very interested in SQ. At first I wanted to only shell out $125 for front set of components, but all the forums told me to save up for nice fronts. So I thought about playing with CDT's CL set, but too many reviews mentioned their lack of midbass esp after breaking them in a week or two. Their HD series are way over my budget.

So then I looked at MB Quart and Infinity but from experience, I do not like metal tweeters (too bright for me). I've heard all the polks and didn't like any of them. I did like Cerwin Vega maybe about 10 years ago but everyone says they're not what they used to be.

So now I am completely stumped and lost. Dealers in my area only carry generic stuff so I can't hear any of the non-consumer brands (pioneer, sony, alpine, etc). I thought about going Boston Acoustics but most of them are rated pretty low RMS. And I know my Phoenix Gold tantrum (75 rms x 4 ch) is underrated.

Any suggestions based on actual listening experience would be helpful. Thanks for all responses so far and any future responses on this thread.

Since when???? Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING I have EVER heard you say was of the utmost intelligence, until right now..........sorry bro.

Cadence is anything but crap, atleast in the SQ world. My next endeavor is to try their SPL stuff, haven't heard it yet, but can't wait.

Bw, you hurt me buddy, deep.... :)

PS......I am still in awe......

I DO, however, agree with this statement. I am on of the many who have been ripped off, received products with serial numbers scratched off, etc......

EDIT: Just so I don't post 4 in a row, sorry for the three.....

Ryan, you are correct. I am going to be running all Cadence soon. Right now I am tight financially, but I just got accepted into the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 99, so my financial status will soon change.

When it does, I am going to promo an SPL setup in the Saturn and an SQ setup in the Lincoln. The money I make from selling my old, and mostly non-used stuff will give me the money needed for the SPL project. I got a nice price quote from Excessive for two 200 amp alternators, and plan on running a little over 5000 wrms in the Satty. The back seats are out, as we all know, and four 15" Cadence Dayton subs will be built into a roughly 10 ft^3 ported box. Hopefully the box is big enough, if not, I will build it into the trunk space too and mount my amps to the box itself. 4 15's are going in there, I don't care if I can't drive the damn car.......

Well let me do my best to tell you about Cadence components. I run the 6.5" CVL's in my mustang, and have had them installed for about 8 months now. They are being pushed by a Sundown SAX-100.2.

Overall I would give them a 7/10 on Sq. They do sound very good, and have a nice clean sound to them. Just at EXTREMELY high volumes they seem to distort a little. I haven't heard other components before that get as loud as they do, so I can't say how others compare in sq at that level of output. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. I have had a lot of different people in my car and asked them what they thought about the distortion. And the most likely answer is, "I can't tell if it's the speakers distorting a little, or if my ears are just having trouble processing that much sound". Basically it sounds like they distort at high volumes, but it's at such a high volume that you can't even really listen to it anyways. But that is why I give them a 7/10 for sq and not higher.

Output wise, they are monsters. I bought the CVL's because I needed something that would get loud. I am more a subwoofer guy, than a component guy, so SQ wasn't my main concern. I just wanted something that would keep up with a ported SI mag, or ported Alpha off of 1600rms. They do an excellent job of getting very loud, so I couldn't be happier with them in that department. The added power handling on the mids due to the 3" VC on them really helps in the output department as well. At first I wasn't getting a ton of output out of the mids, but after a proper install, and some crossover adjustments they really pound. Output I would give them a 9/10. Not a perfect score, because I just don't know how loud components can get. But I like music as loud as anyone, and these will suit anyones needs in output.

So my advice to anyone looking at possibly running the CVL's in their car; would be to decide what they are looking for out of their components. If they want the best sounding components possible, there are probably better choices. If you want a solid sounding, extremely loud set of components you can't find a better set for the price.

Hope that helps.
