L7 or L5 and 2 or 4
my brother has two custom boxes that work for the kicker solo baric L7 and L5 and was wondering which one would be the better sub? probablly the L7 right? and since he has two boxes i was wondering if i should get 4 of them or just use one box and get two? what sub you think i should get and how many?
Now when you say custom boxes... I'm assuming that you mean that these are prefab boxes built for square subs from Kicker?
Reason I come to this conclusion is that the L5 and L7 are different subs and do not have the same specs. The overall best bet would be to have a box built specifically for an L5 or a L7, depending on which you choose...
It's been said many times on this board... The subwoofer is only as good as the enclosure you put it in and a cheap sub in the right box will out perform a much better sub in the wrong box :)

my brother had the boxes built for him when he had 4 of the L7's. so they are not prefab. and in you saying that the L7 and L5 are different subs, yes they are different but do have the same specs right on the kicker website. they both have specs of a minimun cubic foot of 1.75 and maximumof 3.25 for both the L7 and L5

^Exactly... Me thinks the boy is catchin onbreakjunki wrote:he's talkin about the t/s parameters, specs. And yeah, they may have the same recomended enclosure from the factory, but usually the factory recomended airspace sounds like crap..Also what airspace is your brothers box and what is it tuned to, that will make a huge difference.
If the boxes were designed especially for L7s then that's probably what will be best for them... Sorry didn't mean to insult you or anything, we just get a lot kids here asking about "Special" enclosures that will fit their subs only to find out they're prefab, so it's just the natural assumption since you were talking about 2 different subs.
