Amp Speaker install

Post by Biig O »

Hello all, I have a 05 dodge magnum with 6 speakers and factory navigation. 3 1/2 in the dash, 6x9 woofers in the front door, 6x9 rear panel.

I would like to replace all speakers. I want to add a amp but keep the factory deck. I have a JL audio A4300 amp i plan on using. It is listed@ 70x4 at 14.1v/ 45x4 at12.1v 4 ohms or 110x4 2 ohms14.1/ 70x2 at 12.1 2 ohms.

Do I go component or just replace the 6x9s? I am looking at some Infinity Kappa 693.7i they are 2 ohms 110 rms. I do have a set of alpine 6 1/2 component S series. Do i buy new, do I try to use the components I have and purchase another set...I dunno. Last thing sound processor ; audiocontrol, or the mtx req5?? Are those things worth it? Are the after market PAC converters just fine? I do plan on adding another amp and sub after i take car of the sound quality first. Thanks!

Well as for your speakers... I would recommend going with the components... 1) front staging will be much better and 2) you'll get a better sound out of a round speaker.
As for integration the PAC will work fine unless you're wanting more control over your system.

I wouldn't worry about processing unless you really know how to use it.

You could try the Alpine components. They'll surely be an improvement over stock. If you don't like them or you want something else, you can always replace them.

components have always been nicer in my opinion because you can place them how you want them and how you feel would give you better sound to your ears. The PAC integration will work just fine. They have really expensive OEM Interfaces where you can control a lot of this and that.... but it kind of isnt needed for the everyday driver who just wants better sound. Having speakers that are on a good amp will be many many times better than stock.

PAC will be fine.

One point to mention about the components is that they offer a crossover option that many other 2 way or 3 way speakers don't have. You will get so much better sound because:

the tweets and the midbass are crossed over at the correct points,

most times the tweets will have a -3db adjust

and you can place the tweets in the location that gives the best response (for lack of a better word), and you will most likely have three mounting options, flush, surface, and angle.

You will be more satisfied with the comps.
