Component help...
Component help...
Hello all :) I need help as usual again :) I love all the input. I have the stock nav unit, PAC integration. So all my wiring is ready to go... I bought the alpine pdx 4.100. I am looking for 1 or 2 sets of components. I do have a pair of jl audio VR 650 CXI. they are 2 way speakers. Could I buy a set of VR components for the front, and put the 2 ways in back? Or should I go with type r components all the way around. I am looking for a nice sound. I will add a sub later. I am so confused, thanks! btw my budget is $400 for speakers
As I am sure you have already found out, budget dictates alot. Either way you are gonna get good sound. the best answer is listen to the JL's and then listen to the type R's. And go from there. what is the end goal of your system?? Alot of people don't run any rear fill. (myself included). Opinions on this are pretty varied so its your call in the end.Biig O wrote:Hello all :) I need help as usual again :) I love all the input. I have the stock nav unit, PAC integration. As per budget, the type R's will probably come closer to falling in line, shop around and find the best deal.

Well I can tell you this much... You probably Don't want components in the back... throws everything way off... If you're looking for a decent sound quality then you'll probably want to look into midbass for the rears (or nothing at all).

yeah I can agree with that. Personally I wouldn't run any speakers in the rear.
One way I look at it is this: when you go to a concert you don't sit with the band behind you, the band is in front of you with the instruments placed across the [sound] stage.
just my .02

These guys speak the truth. You aren't going to be in the back of your car listening to music, you will be up front where the steering wheel is.
Blow off the rear speakers and spend your 400 buckaroonies on some quality components. But let your ears do the choosing. Don't listen to us about the best for 400 bucks...we all have our favorites, but, only your ears will tell you what sounds best for your car.
if you must put speakers in the rear, put in Midbasses like Michael ( aka CarGodz ) stated and you should be fine.
In fact, if you want some outstanding speakers ( 3 way ), I have some Focal K3P speakers that have only a few months on them. But I am looking for 600 + shipping.
pm me if you are interested.

definetly let your ears have first pick, get what sounds good to you and your ears, not us. We all have different taste and what sounds majestic to me may sound like garbage to you. One other thing to note, sound quality vehicles have as few as speakers as possible(most of the time). I have seen some killer SQ vehicles with as little as 6 speakers. If SQ is your goal that is.

O, I will have to go listen to some speakers then. Not too many shops around here with variety. Lot of JL, Alpine, MA, Focal . Focal is too much for me, and another company Morel, wow those things are the best speakers i heard, but the price...ouch! Before this thread i ordered 4 infinity kappa 6x9s. i don't think i will even open the box. Ok, well I am hoping to to listen and learn. well enjoy!
That's another thing... oblong speakers like 6x9"s don't give as good a quality as round speakers either.
