DC LVL4 power handling

ok so i am going to be ordering a dc lvl4 here in a few weeks.dc says 1000rms but is that a dead on power rating or could it handle a hifonics 1210 or 1610 or like an autotek sm1-1500 on a daily set up

You should be fine. Remember RMS is a thermal rating just pay attention to your volume dont clip it and you will be fine.

so should be safe with any of the choices then is what your saying right? and really which amp is more efficent(sp) the hifonics or the autotek?

Efficency wont really matter in this case cause your so close in power.

The 1000w is a "Very" safe rating (as are all DC subs)... The standard level 4 subs can handle 1500w rms daily and hot rodded with the level 5 voice coils they will handle 2000w daily... As Bill pointed out though and like every sub, just as long as it's clean power.

I called the nearest DC dealer (he's in Calgary) a couple weeks ago. I asked about the level 4's, he asked what I was running. He told me a level 3 would be better with my 600.1 amp. He told me has runs 3 level 3's and hammers at them with... then he lost me because his knowledge of audio is much better then mine. But I did catch the name Stetsom and was like, ok. I looked Stetsom amps up and I'm still like, ok.

But my point is, it's cool that the guy would rather hook me up with the proper sub rather then hooking himself up with the extra bucks.

You have to be very careful when you say things like that. DC rates there product at 1000rms for a reason, saying that they will take that kind of power is going to cause issues down the road when someone who doesn't know as much about audio as you or us puts 1500 rms on it and it blow's up. When rusty gets a call and hear's "well my dealer said it could take it y wont you warranty it" he's not gonna be a happy man. Rusty is a very good personal friend of mine i want to protect him and you bro.

Thats y you see my response being very vague, just because you and i know it can handle that power doesn't mean people should put that kind of power on it.

Holy crap a smart car audio shop? Whats the name of this place, they have to be in dbdrag or something close, especially if they use stetsom products.

He is also 100 percent right you would be severely under powering those 4's because the mechanical suspension would be to stiff for that level of power. you would probably see a substantial drop in output over the level 3
