I want to start a forum/website, need some advice.

OK, so I would like to start a forum or website to show case some of the builds that I'll be working on. The problem is, I have no clue where to start. I don't want to use on of the free websites because I want a regular dot com address.

I have no idea where/how to start this process.

Should I stick with a forum or try an actual website?

I'm hoping somebody here might be able to start me in the right direction.

My cousins step brother (well kinda) was going to help me, but he's pretty busy with college so I don't think that's going to happen.

I think they give you a free php forum with paying for your webspace.

I use godaddy. I like it a lot, but you really need to know what you're doing in order to navigate through their management systems other than an FTP.
