Amplifier Constantly Consumes Power

Post by foxxy »

Hi there,

I have a kenwood mono amp (KAC-8105D) that i bought off kijiji.

I have the positive, negative and p.con (remote turn on) connected. I know that the remote turn on is working because the light on the amp turns on when my deck does (Remote turn on is connected to the remote turn on to the deck). When I shut everything off including the deck the amp shuts off. I know this because the light shuts off and i have tested that the current draw to the amp does drop. Unfortunately the amp does not fully shut off and it still draws current, not enough to turn on the amp but enough to drain my battery.
I have tested the positive wire and the ground connection, both are fine.
I have talked to a couple people and they said something in the amp could be shorting out. Has anyone had this problem and what are some suggestions.

I know i can add a switch to the positive wire but i want to exhaust all options before I go ahead and do that.

Thanks,
AF
