P1000x5 stuck in protection mode???!!!

New guy here, needs help. I'm running or should I say was running Polk MM series 6x9's in front and 61/2 components in rear, sound was awesome, for about 4 months. No subs yet had at low volume and then just went into protection mode. Did all trouble shooting and gave up. A friend gave me a old school Sherwood. I've had no problems with this amp ,haven't changed any wiring . Any body with fosgate punch amps have any similar problems .

Welcome to the forum. Just curious, does it go into protect mode with the speakers unhooked?

If so, most likely something inside the amp has shorted out.

Yes,with speakers disconnected and also rca cables disconnected . Leaving just power, ground and remote wire on . As soon as I turn key goes right into protection .

that totally sounds like something within the amp has went bad.
Only thing I can suggest is double check all the wires, just to make sure nothing is wrong there.

But that's about the only thing I can think of, is that your amp has went bad. You'll need to get it repaired or replace it.

That's what I'm thinking, I checked and double checked my wiring. And like I said earlier I've been running a Sherwood amp ever since this happened with no problems , just doesn't have the power I'm looking for. Thanx for all your help, was hoping there was some kind of internal fuse or something . Something that maybe I can fix myself. Thanks again for your help.
