Box Help

I'm plannin on buildin a box for the RE sx15 pretty soon and i'm wonderin which way to face the sub and get the loudest results in a 93 Jeep Cherokee. Backfiring? Firing Upwards? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For a Jeep Cherokee I'd face the sub straight up.

down-firing in a cherokee for a fifteen.
leave the sub about 3-4" between the cone/box bottom and the foor of the SUV.

honestly, I've never heard of downfiring in a vehicle. Does someone have a link with a picture of a sub being downfired? Also why would this make it louder?
