Help with SQL sub choices

I need some opinions on these (don't have access to any shops that have enough of these to listen to, without them trying to sell me nothing but SPL subs).

I want something closer to SQ than SPL.

These choices fit my budget, power requirements, airspace limitations & are available in 2ohm DVC:

1.) Orion P10D2
2.) PG Xenon X10D2
3.) MB Quart PWE252
4.) Power Acoustik FUBR-10
5.) OZ Audio V10.3-2 (can they handle more than the 350rms listed if installed properly?)

Any opinions or experience on these would be most helpful...thanks

I'd go with the Oz Audio V10.3-2 personally, then Orion, then PG. Quarts subs are just blah, I wouldn't put their top of the line on par with a JL W3, Power Acoustik stinks, especially for SQ. How much more power would you want them to handle? It doesn't hurt to overpower a driver as long as you're conservative with the volume level.

How about Image Dynamics IDQ series? I kno woofersetc.com sells them.

The amp I will be driving them with puts out 450rms (at fullpower / volume of course...not that I have actually ever hit that point).

I have heard good things about the Oz Audio subs.

I am currently using (2) 2004 10" Type R's (450rms going to each) and I can tell at times they can't handle that kind of power (rated at 300rms, but will handle a little more).

As far as the IDQ series goes...the 10" model is only recommended for 250rms (way short of what I wantto drive them with).

The subs could handle 450, just don't have the mentality that you have to crank the volume up because you have another click left. They'd handle 450W better in a ported box, but I doubt your installation will allow that if you're limited to just 10" subs. The IDQ's mentioned above are fantastic subs for the money. I don't know which dimensions you're limited by, but the IDQ 12 requires little airspace for a 12", you can go with a .8 gross enclosure volume and get great SQ and output. About power, you don't really need a specific level of power to get a certain decibel level, remember that doubling the power only nets a 3db gain. 500W will only be 3db louder than 250W, don't tie yourself up on power ratings. Most subs in the 200-400W range (of similar design) aren't that far apart in SPL capability.

The sealed box I have currently is housing (2) 10" so I don't want to have to make the holes bigger to put 12" in.

I doubt there's a chance in hell that I'd ever actually get the entire 450rms out of the amp (I don't cherish the idea of ever going deaf) I just want something that can handle more power than what I have now without breaking my bank.

Thanks for all the advice...I think I'll be going with the Oz Audio subs (was leaning that way anyway)

What about some RE 10's ? If you haven't already bought your subs. $60 bucks each I think, I would believe both of those would be cheaper then the OZ audio no? I have re8's and they sound great sealed.
