Component Choice - JL XR650 / Diamond D661s / Focal 165A

Could anyone share thier experience with the above. I am inclined to buy the Focals and have not heard the Diamond (silk dome tweeters) still.

Out of all those... these are my thoughts...

The Old Diamond D661's (not the current)
Have weak mid-bass, and a peak at the xOver frequency (4-5khz) that needs to be EQ'd.

The current D661's have more excursion & are said to have improved the mid-bass issue. I like Diamonds Silk & Hard Domes... LPG clones.

Focal 165a... Nice Midrange & mid-bass... hate the tweeter. It works, but even off-axis & away from firing into a highly reflective surface it need taming with an EQ.

JL XR650... One of the best midranges I have heard... nice mid-bass... Tweeter works best low in kicks or off-axis in a-pillars, sail panels & doors. Do not fire it directly into a highly reflective material such as the windshield.

Out of the above, I'd take the XRs. Great component set for the money spent. Set is more inclined to an on axis install with the passive x-over, if you go active it's more flexible in that aspect. In kick panels or a custom door install, they'll really shine.
