Infinity Reference Box

Hello guys, well i have a question for the box builders out there, well right now i'm running 2 12inch infinity reference 1230 subs in a sealed enclosure, well it's no hitting low enough for me, so i want to go ported but i don't have the room for two 2feet enclosures well that's what infinity recommends, i would like to know if i make the box smaller then recommendation but still tuned to 30HZ will it sound like sh*t, like if i made the box like 1.50cuft instead of 2.00Cuft.. i know it's a pretty big difference but thought i would still ask.. Also my Local dealer said i should try going with a smaller sealed box Infinity recommends 1.25Cuft he said to try a 1Cuft box instead but i don't think i will get the lows with that maybe more punch..

Generally going with a larger box gives you better low end extension. I might try stuffing your box with poly-fill first to trick your box into thinking its larger.
Plus, going with a ported box will give you more output at a certain frequency. It will get louder, but not necessarily any lower.

okay i will do that,, i thought that ported would make it go lower, well what is the drop off point for most sealed enclosures if you don't mind me asking?

Depends on the enclosure. Get a copy of WinISD. There is a tutorial in the FAQ section on the second page. It should allow you to see how a bigger box will affect low end extension.
