crossover setting for this set up

i have two kicker amps, one kx400.1 pushing an alpine swr-1042D, and a KX650.4 pushing 4 component speakers (pioneer ts-c160r's)

i am a complete newbie with a system that was installed yesterday (which was the first time i ever touched an amp in my life).

the pioneer components are 60W RMS (the 4 chan amp puts out over 110 so the gains are very low), and the crossover frequency is 5000Hz (which means nothing to me honestly).

It also says the woofer (LPF) - 12dB/oct and the tweeter (HPF) is the same.

the 4 chan has two sets of knobs, and i dont know why the people at best buy set them up a little differently. the bass is turned on a little bit on one of them, which doesnt make sense to me since u want the sub to carry all the bass.

i have an alpine cda 9856 head installed, with a bunch of features i am struggling (in the midst of law finals) to learn to use.

the second crossover frequency i need for the amp is for the kx400.1 mono kicker, which only has a low pass i think. it says it has a "full time variable crossover, 12dB lowpass variable from 50-200Hz." the sub it drives says it has a Frequency Response : 24Hz - 500Hz.

also, the mono amp is rated at 400W RMS, and the sub is 500W RMS.

Basically, where am I setting the crossover knobs?

what should i do with the "kickbass" feature, which says it is a variable bass boost circuit which provides up to 18 dB opf boost at 40Hz. I ask this because my alpine head can be set to focus on several diff bass levels, 60, 80, 100, and 120, so does the kickbass make sense to use?

i just wanna make my system sound as good as it can, considering the amt of money i dropped on it. its the first of many and i will make a much bigger effort to educate myself after may 19th, when law finals are over and done. thanks guys.

this is the point at which your 2 way component set is divided.....at 5000 hz....there should be a slight overlap due to the nature of passive crossovers but no big deal

this is the slope of the crossover or basically how fast the network tapers off the crossover point.....

actually in an ideal setup you want a stong enough midbass in your front stage to make it difficult or impossible to localize the bass.....this was probably done to help boost some midbass in the drivers

if it were me i would probably controll the sub amp with the head unit at 80 hz to start with and keep the kickbass which is kickers bass boost at a minimum but im not a big fan of overprocessing or boosting

they are pretty good, but the amp shut itself off a few times when i first picked the car up. the tweeters are literally ear piercing, so u have to keep the treble down on the head unit to at least -4 (and it still sounds ridiculous)

i just looked at the specs again, and its only rated at 4 x 120 @ 4 ohms for 14.4 volts. for 12.5 volts, its only 4 x 70. which am i getting?

depends on what your alternator is charging at. probably around 13.8-14.4

i have a cap (1 farad i think its measured in)

I think alternators generally run around 13.5v while the car's on.

cap doesnt have anything to do with it. and my alt sits at 14.6 but it will go up to 14.9 for special events

alts go anywhere from low 13's to high 14's but can go up to 20 for other special events

you probably have a tweeter adjustment on your crossover....it may be set at 0 db if you have the option try it at -3 db or so.....
