type r qestion

im running a type r with a MA audio 800 watt amp

i have it in a 1.282 ft3 sealed box and it POUNDS on low freq bass *like 90% of young jeezy cd* but thats it there is almost no base for higher freq

is it because of the box?

check your settings.. i also run a Type R powered by a JBL 600.1... Type R's actually do better in a ported enclosure.. so thats something you may consider.. anyway.. aside from checking your settings on your amp... it may be the box. it may be too small.. im not sure what Alpine requires for a sealed box for the Type R.. but id suggest going ported.. and what MA Audio amp do you have? is that 800rms or max?

MA Audio M1889I

its 800 watt rms at 2 ohms but i dont think it runs at that because i have it set at 2 ohms and its cracked all the way up and the R isnt even distorting

i'd like to do a ported box but i'd have no idea how to make it

my max width i can work with is 16 inches, and i can only o like 16 or 17 inches tall.... the length is like 35 or 40 inches worth

what do you mean its cranked all the way up? and y would you want it to distort? i hade a type r on 2000 watts and it didnt distort.

i have the level turned up... and i dont want it to distort, i was told that if it distorted that it ment u were pushing to much wattage to it..........

no.. what kind of vehicle do you have? and do you have the dual 2ohm version or 4ohm? also here..

this is my box.. this will work for yours... its easy.. just cut the MDF to the exact specs or have Home Depot or Lowes cut it..this box will slam the Type R..

and its the dual 2 ohm version

and i didnt know home depot will cut the wood for me... that cost alot extra?

Depends. Some will charge .50 cents per cut, some won't charge. Some won't even do it lol

I usually goto Lowes. Here they give you two free cuts then its $0.25 a cut thereafter...

So you may end up paying $3-5 for the cuts. Trust me though, this is much faster than trying to do it at home with a circular saw...
