fixing the pin stripping

is this possible? the pin stripping on my car (the factory stuff of course) is in bad shape. is this something i can fix or what?

also, i have a few minor scratches on the car, is there a way to get rid of them
? could i possibly get a can of the factory colors (for thep instripping and the scratches) and use a very fine-tipped brush to fill the bad parts in?

they make touch up cans that you can get for touch ups. and for the pin stripe its best to strip the old off and put new on.

can you elaborate on the pinstripe? how do i take it off/ and where do i get another one? :P

they make a tool that goes on a drill and the new pinstripe is a tape that you put on after you take the old off.

hrm. i'll llook into it tommorow. same with the touchup stuff... would they make the touchup can in the same color that my car is/ that'd be great if so, i could paint my mirrors and door handles!

You can get the touchup paint at the parts stores and Wal Mart. I have found while very close they are never exact matches...

For the scratches I would seriously BUFF them twice to see if they come out. If the scratch is white then its probably not thru the clear coat. If its in the paint bare metal then you need touchup. I wouldnt use the spray on these but the small bottle with a brush inside it.

For the pinstripping if its just a few small areas its possible to just put a piece over it...

Hard to see unless your real close or particular.

Another thing.... if you paint say your mirrors, you will probably want to buy a can of clear coat because if you just paint them with color, they wont match the rest of the car.

For the scratches... you can either use the touch up paint that comes with the paint brush(good if they are just little knicks) or you can sand them a tad so the edges of the scratch are smooth then spray the color then spray clear and it should look pretty good if the color was a good match.

well.. theres no metal on my car's body. saturn = plastic

how do i buff it out?

i was hoping to get the paint from a dealer and brush it on, its a fairly small amount. on one side of my car the pinstripping is shot... the otherside is beautiful.

a dealer will probaly only sell you a pint at about 100 bucks plus you need a reducer and a clear coat to go over that paint. i would just buff it and use a touch up kit from wall world or a parts store or have your car repainted.

lol yeah... if i had the mony to have the whole car repainted... i wouldn't be asking these questions :P
