DLS Iridium...or Rainbow Profi??

I can't decide which to go with for my next 2-way setup.

Right now i am running a pair of DLS Reference PS6 2-way comp's and i love them....but i want to feed more power to my front stage and totally eliminate my rear fill. I will be able to push each pair with ~180wRMS with my USA 4300x amp.

I have asked around and everybody recommends the Rainbows....but then everybody says they are over priced. I have talked to another guy and he says he loves his Profi Vanadiums and he loves the Hard Dome tweet. i am too scared to try the HArd dome, b/c i simply love my Silks, but that is besides the point.

I can get both for a VERY good deal so price is not as big of an issue.
I am a fan of silk tweets so no Profi Vanadiums for me. lol
The thing is is that i would love to try some Rainbows....but i also like the Iridiums b/c i have heard them in many setups and love them. I do not however think the Profi's will disappoint.

I would like some other people's input on my situation and maybe some enlightenment to which i should choose.
The original question remains DLS Iridium or the Rainbow Profi's??? which and why. And would the DLS UR's be that much different from the Iridium's???

Well, take this for what its worth coming from me

, you need to listen to the two and decide which one sounds best to you. I met a guy last weekend that said Rainbow's sounded like crap to him(very reputable source) yet he said thats just his opinion, there are alot of people who do like the sound. As far as my personal experience with the dls and rainbow.........none. Jonathan, glass, onyrmk, geo....any of those guys will probably have heard both.

yeah, i know its best to listen to both....but that is just not gonna happen around here.....you say DLS or Rainbow around where i live and people hear "DSL"(d**k sucking lips) and "queer people" so that is pretty impossible. lol no offense to anybody. :)

Like i said i have heard the Iridiums and admire them greatly....but somebody else may have a little more knowledge to these 2 sets of speakers than i with hearing both and Electircal Engineering Degrees and such. hahaha

Since you live in Ocala Florida, you should seek out the help from Steve Head, owner of AudioNutz. That guy is probably one of the top 5 or 10 sq installers in the world. This guy is amazing. I haven't met him in person, but from our discussions in emails and in forums, I am sure he has heard both sets. But in all honesty...no matter what speaker you purchase, a good install will either make them sound amazing or a bad install will make them sound like poopiedust. Install is everything. just my .02 cents

That is EXACTLY who i am getting them from!!!!!

I helped out at his shop for quite some time....not exactly installing but doing busy work and errands and he said he can get me good deals on DLS, Rainbow, U.S.Amps, and Arc Audio.

So i will be getting a very good price on them.
I talked to him last Wednesday and he said he still has connections with some dealers. so i can still get some good stuff. he has closed his shop down for quite a while do to some personal issues. but i will have to talk to him as well to figure out prices.

i have poured close to $2,500 into that shop for my system over the course of about 2 years. lol

I used to go there everyday and hang out with them. Great bunch of guys.

edit: just noticed the word "poopiedust"....Lmao!!!

Hell, I almost shipped my car to him for my upcoming install, but I got lucky...Chris Pate is moving up to Tulsa, so he is going to do the install. Not totally sure I could afford Steve anyway. LOL

poopiedust is one of my favorite words.

he is not bad. where the prices start to climb is when you get into Component sets that cost 1 and 2 grand. and amps that are close to the same. haha

poopiedust is def. going into the active library of terms for me. hahahaha

yea, doesn't AudioNutz deal in Focal, cause I know what those component sets are like for nearly 2 grand

they used to. he has since closed the shop.

but they had some very nice Focal sets ont he display.

Right before he closed down, Rainbow sent him the 3-way Reference line, the almighty top of the line $10k set.
I took them out of the box, and the MR 100 tweet's dome was bent in, so i went calmly walking over to Steve, and I said "It came out of the box like this, i didn't do it", and he just put his mouth on it and sucked the dent out of the tweet. lol
