Fluke DMM

Which fluke do y'all recommend? I am looking to get a fluke in a few weeks, but I want to research it a bit and figure out which one is best for me

EDIT: I failed to mention, any of the older models as well will work. I have found that flukes are quite common at a pawn shop! Just wanted to see maybe which ones all of you car audio nerds liked...

Do you just need a standard DMM?
Good ol Fluke 77 has been working well for me for over 15 years!

Well the one I use at work is the 179, this one:

They are kind of expensive but work paid for mine. I love it though, I think any fluke would do the job for ya. The one feature I would look into though is the backlight. I am not sure if the 77 has it or not but I am glad mine has it. It is especially nice when you are in a cramped space with little light. Just my two cents.

yeah i like the 179 to, but i also like the 189 as well

going to hit a bunch of pawn shops just to see whats out there right now.

The 77 does not have the backlight, and that would be nice to have!

Just kidden man. I use a 77 every day at work, and it works just fine. Honestly any fluke will do you good, its just a matter of what you want it to do.

Not to sure about the pawn shop thing. I guess if you could test it it would be ok, but you don't know when it was calibrated last, and if it has been abused.

look at the 336 clamp meter.
measures AC/DC amps up to 600, voltage, and resistance up to 6k.

I cant understand why people spend $180+ on a DMM when a $5 or less one I have has lasted through 4 electrical college classes and probably 4 years of hobby use...

Maybe you need your info more accurate?

I hate to say it, but I'm in full agreeancable (yes agreeancable-my made up word for the day

) with Ryan on this one.
Myself I have a craftsman w/ ohm tester that cost me $50 bucks and I love it, even if it doesn't have a backlit panel, but I suppose to each his own :)

Oh and I must note,

my $2.99 meter does have a green lit panel thats switchable...

Once again these are on sale at the local Harbor Freight and I believe the current price is $3.99 and its been somewhat changed...
