Fi Audio X 10"

Post by Bwcad1 »

Recently i acquired 4 FI car audio X 10" subs, there entry level. first the specs

Subs:
courtesy of Justin Thorton aka teamsubgopoof

There dual 4 ohm coil woofers with standard cast 12 spoke basket and standard pulp paper cone. standard for entry level woofers except most cheap woofers use a stamped basket. overall i was very pleased with the ascetics and they seemed pretty beefy for 10's double stacked magnets and 2.5 coil. 300w RMS

Amp:
courtesy of terry aka smoker

2 crunch GP 1600.1
each running at 1 ohm at about 800w.
gains set correctly sub sonic set at 28hz and low pass 65hz.

Enclosure:
Built by Joey C

1 large enclosure dived in 2. each chamber is about 3.25cf
2 aero's per side tuned to 30hz
resin all around and glassed corners

review:

my first impression was WOW. these little subs were getting insanely loud and getting very very low! but upon testing i noticed one of the subs ticking loudly. upon further inspection i noticed the tinsel leads were longer than the other subs and were slapping the cone. i emailed Scott at FI and in less than 20 mins he informed me that the sub will be replaced free of charge. now even with only 2 of the subs running and one of the GP 1600s im in the low 40's with noticeable ear pain. the subs are playing insanely low and sound incredible. u all know me and i love the loud and will sacrifice sq and tuning freq to get them loud but in this case i don't need to. even at 30hz these subs make my ears hurt. im throughly impressed by even FI's lower level subs.

ill update later with numbers and when i receive the replacement sub. ill post pictures later tonight.

mmmmmmmmmm.... those sound like awesome entry level subs. They COULD of been usefull for the people who have very little money. But Fi cut the X line because they were by far the least selling of their lines.

I can't wait to here these in toledo this weekend Bill :thumbsup
