Sorry, but no way in fuck does Florida look like a better choice.
I think it is utter bullshit how the #4 ranked team suddenly is being considered for a championship game. Michigan doesn't play for two weeks and they drop two places? That is bullshit.
Third hardest my ass. The ONLY really tough team Michigan played was OSU, where the ONLY tough teams OSU played were Michigan and Texas. Both of their schedules were extremely weak. Notre Dame was highly overrated, Wisconsin was perhaps the only other "good" team in the Big 10. The rest of them were pushovers for either team, and both mustered up some mediocre efforts against said crappy teams.
Florida? Try LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, archrival Florida State, as well as others. Half of those teams spent the majority of their seasons in the top 10, until all of them beat the shit out of one another enough to claim the top spots. Their only loss? To a strong (pre QB and runningback injuries) Auburn team on a controversial play. Michigan lost fair and square to the better team. The difference between the SEC and the Big 10? Speed and Defense. Florida has the advantage on both accounts.
As far as difficulty of schedule, Florida has both of them beat. Florida's defense is substantially faster than Michigans and their offense is much a more balanced attack. Will they beat OSU? They have the athletic ability no doubt. It's going to boil down to solid coaching and making minimal mistakes. This isn't going to be the huge offensive effort that Michigan-OSU was, it's going to come down to solid defense. And I wager a MUCH better game than a rematch of the Michigan-OSU showdown.
